The Wildcats are coming back to Morristown! The Morristown Theatre Guild will produce Disney’s High School Musical 2 as part of the upcoming 75th anniversary season. The news came to the Board of Directors from Music Theatre International this week.

The show is the sequel to Disney’s High School Musical, the most successful stage production in Morristown community theatre history. The announcement comes on the heels of the movie release of High School Musical 3: Senior Year, currently number one at the box office.

Jeff Medford, Chairman of the Guild is pleased to reveal the upcoming show. “We are extremely excited to announce this production. Last year’s production of HSM was a huge success and featured a wonderfully talented cast. It was a show that the entire family could come to and have a great time.” And come they did. Over 5,000 theater goers from all over East Tennessee attended the show. The production was voted the 2007 Show of the Year by the Theatre Guild membership.

In addition to the show, children will be given the opportunity to participate through the HSM2 Camp. “This past summer, the campers had a fabulous time interacting and performing with the original cast members. We are thrilled to offer them that opportunity again,” says Jaime Greene, camp director.

Disney’s HSM2 will be produced in July as part of the Theatre Guild’s Diamond Anniversary Season.
